Mbamara is a dynamic figure whose career spans law, literature, filmmaking, and performance arts. Graduating from the University of Lagos and Nigerian Law School, he embarked on a dual career path, practicing law in Nigeria while nurturing his passion for writing, poetry, and theater. His journey led him to the United States, where he not only became a licensed attorney but also delved into the vibrant worlds of literature and cinema. Mbamara ventures into television production with "Cultures," a humorous exploration of cultural differences aimed at fostering tolerance. The series follows an African chief sent to America to find a wife for his son, Ozobio, who has assimilated into American culture. However, upon arrival, he discovers Ozobio's engagement to an American woman, sparking a clash of cultures and Ozobio's inner conflict.
Mr. Mbamara, I just had the opportunity to watch This America and it was excellent. Very well done. Oliver Mbamara’s work always speaks to the heart. Every film, poem, or reflection feels deeply personal. He combines culture, spirituality, and real-life lessons so beautifully. You don’t just watch his work — you feel it.
Proufound, insightful, perceptive, gripping, well crafted! Mucho kudos judge Oliver! His storytelling connects Africa with the world in a powerful way. There is wisdom in every line, and emotion in every scene. You finish watching and keep thinking about it for days. That is the mark of a true artist and teacher.
Oliver Mbamara’s films capture the immigrant journey so honestly. “This America” made me laugh, reflect, and remember my own story. Every scene felt real and deeply relatable. Thank you for giving our voice a global screen.
I love how he keeps African values alive in his storytelling. From “Slave Warrior” to the Spade series, culture stays strong. His movies entertain and also teach important lessons. Proud to see our heritage represented so beautifully.
Hearing him perform his poems live was emotional and inspiring. His voice and expressions make every word come alive. The room felt connected like family while listening. He doesn’t just recite — he touches hearts.
His books are full of simple truths that feel like personal advice. I carry his quotes with me for motivation every day. They challenge me to grow while staying grounded. Oliver’s writing is truly a gift.
